Wicked Little Letters (2023)

A riotous mystery comedy set in a 1920s English seaside town. Based on a stranger-than-fiction true story, the film follows two neighbours:

1. Edith Swan (played by Olivia Colman): A deeply conservative local woman who receives a series of crude letters filled with unintentionally hilarious profanities.

2. Rose Gooding (played by Jessie Buckley): A rowdy Irish migrant who is wrongly charged with writing these wicked letters.

As the anonymous correspondence sparks a national uproar, the town's women, led by Police Officer Gladys Moss (played by Anjana Vasan), take matters into their own hands. They suspect that something is amiss and that Rose might not be the true culprit after all. The film delves into absurdity, scandal, and the power of community in the face of an outrageous trial.

In this delightful and quirky tale, the clash between tradition and irreverence unfolds against the backdrop of a quaint seaside setting. As Edith and Rose's lives intersect, secrets emerge, and the true identity of the letter writer becomes a captivating mystery. With humor, heart, and unexpected twists, "Wicked Little Letters" invites audiences to question assumptions and celebrate the resilience of unlikely friendships.

The programme starts 30 minutes after doors open and on Saturdays the main feature about 60 minutes after doors open.

When people in Littlehampton -- including conservative local Edith -- begin to receive letters full of hilarious profanities, rowdy Irish migrant Rose is charged with the crime. Suspecting that something is amiss, the town's women investigate.
