Funding Our New Projector – a message from the trustees
Rusthall Community Cinema began a fundraising drive in May 2023 to buy a replacement projector. Our reasons included the declining brightness of our current LED projector and our concerns it would fail if it wasn’t replaced.
At the time and since then, our heart was set on a digital projector. Our reasons included faster access to new film releases, broader licensing options and better support for accessibility.
The trustees have reflected on our original decision, particularly as costs have risen so much. We believe the purchase of a new laser projector, rather than a digital, will offer much of the same benefits.
It is expected that, for example, accessibility features will be soon supported by laser projectors. A new laser projector will deliver up to double the brightness than our present one and sharper contrast.
The choice of a cheaper projector will enable us to use the saving to further enhance our audience’s experience. A new screen has been one suggestion.
We hope you support us in our decision to now choose a new laser projector for our thriving community cinema. If you’d like to share your thoughts, please contact Eugene at eugene@rusthallcinema.club
